A free, international three-day innovation conference takes place in Manchester in May. Use EEN to optimise your networking opportunities
Innovate UK is hosting an international three-day innovation conference, the EUREKA Global Innovation Summit 2019, which will take place at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester from the 14 to 16 May 2019. The event forms part of the UK’s chairmanship of EUREKA, the world’s biggest platform for international co-operation in R&D and innovation support which is present in over 40 countries.
The Global Innovation Summit is a free to attend event where businesses will receive practical advice on scaling up, gaining investment and funding, pitching, harnessing diversity and inclusion as well as hearing valuable forecasts about future trends.
The event has been themed around the four grand challenges of the UK’s Industrial Strategy - artificial intelligence (AI) and data; ageing society; clean growth; and the future of mobility. Leading policymakers will give their predictions for each sector and the opportunities for businesses. In addition to this, there will be sessions for other key sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing. There are speakers from organisations including Airbus, IBM, Philips, the European Commission, the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre, BGF, Yozma Group, the ScaleUp Institute, Prima, SuperCluster Canada, the NFU and the Department for International Trade.
EEN provides matchmaking opportunities
With delegations of businesses and policymakers from across the world, including the UK, it is a great opportunity to meet and network with business partners from all over the world. With more than 1500 matchmaking opportunities, EEN is offering a matchmaking element so delegates can set up 1:1 networking meetings.
If you haven’t participated in such an event before, matchmaking (sometimes also referred to as a Brokerage Event - see the short video below) is a quick and easy way to meet potential co-operation partners via pre-arranged 1:1 meetings. Participants publish a collaboration profile, enabling other participants to decide to request a meeting. Equally, participants can identify companies that they are interested in meeting; at the event, these "meet and greets" take place at a good speed, with 20 minutes per meeting usually being enough to build a connection. At the sound of the bell, participants move to their next table to start their next meeting.
