The Estonian SME has specialised in developing Smart City, Smart Road, and Mobility related innovation products to improve traffic safety and urban mobility. The company intends to make cities noticeably safer for pedestrians while offering many Smart City enabling solutions for urban development. Road travel has become significantly safer for most road users. The same, however, cannot be said for pedestrians. Pedestrian-involved traffic injuries cost the EU €120 billion annually. It is reported that over 90% of road accidents are attributable to human error. More than two-thirds of pedestrian-involved accidents take place in cities. As the world’s population continues to explode, cities are now realizing that they must become smarter to continuously improve traffic safety and urban mobility. To achieve this, they need reliable (sensor) data to base their mobility-related decisions on. The company’s technology utilizes narrow artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms coupled with latest and greatest sensor technologies to collect data of its surroundings. The proposed device also supports dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) and vehicle-to-everything communication (V2X) protocols over the LTE or 5G network, enabling automatic communication and warning delivery between all communication-ready traffic entities to improve traffic flow and safety at uncontrolled crossings, as well as provide additional data-based solutions for various smart city applications. As of today there are 10+ prototypes installed in total. The device’s cloud-based management dashboard is ready. The team aims to fully commercialize the intelligent roadside infrastructure unit by the end of 2021 The desired cooperation type: In order to test the technology in operational environment pilot partners and potential customers are sought after under a commercial agreement with technical assistance. This includes smart city test areas, science and business campuses with innovation-friendly environment, etc.

Competing roadside infrastructure units cannot implement active safety measures to avoid collisions and/or mitigate the impact of an actual collision between road users.
