Fabrication technology of an Au optical Nanopore sensor for single molecule analysis such as DNA, RNA, protein
A Korean research centre for nanobioscience has developed fabrication technology for an Au optical nanopore sensor device that can be used to analyze single molecules, which is an Au-C mixture membrane. This technology contributes to the next generation DNA sequencing portable analyzers to be fast, cheap, and having low error rate. The research centre is looking for the partner for technical cooperation and research cooperation agreement.

Nanopore sequencing is a fourth-generation approach used in the sequencing of biopolymers (i.e. DNA, RNA). Not like conventional sequencing approaches, nanopore sequencing provides relatively low-cost genotyping, high mobility for testing, rapid processing of samples, and real-time results display. As one of the core technologies in nanopore sequencing, a Korean nano-technology research centre has developed the optical plasmonic nanopore fabrication, which can utilize the present optical biosensor’s detection technology. Compared to the electric detection technology employed by previous portable analyzing device for single molecules, this invented technology provides low error rate. Also, because the plasmonic Au optical nanopore can offer the surface enhanced Raman Spectroscopy measurements there is no electrical crosstalk. The research centre has successful fabricated an Au nanopore on a 40nm thick Au film. Moreover, it can fabricate the nanopore on the Au-C binary membrane formed inside the Au aperture under electron beam irradiation. A potential partner for the research centre would be a company that is available and open for technical cooperation and research cooperation agreement. The inventor would like to guide the fabrication process for Au nanopore array for optical analysis of single molecules.

Compared to the present portable analyzer (i.e. MinION), this new technology provides following advantages; - Low error rate - No electrical crosstalk The Korean research centre has the following technical expertise; - Successfully fabricate the Au nanopore on a 40nm thick Au film - Fabricate the nanopore on the Au-C binary membrane formed inside the Au aperture under electron beam irradiation - Drilling the Au film with ~ 1 nm diameter has been successfully performed
